Ana Čop in Domen Bohte – Introduction lecture: What, where, how …
Monday’s introductory lecture is mainly a meet and greet for all the mentors and the students. Ana and Domen will present this year’s edition of the workshop and festival and give students more detailed information about the schedule and exact locations of the events. At the lecture, you will meet your mentors and find out which combo group you are in, so participation is recommended.

The renowned guitarist, known for his unique compositional approach, will introduce us to interesting ways of practicing composition and will present concrete exercises that will improve your writing.

Ben van Gelder: Developing your musical self
The saxophonist Ben van Gelder will be discussing the process of musical development and the importance of mentorship, approaches to practicing and listening and thinking like a composer.

Jaka Arh: Performance of experimental Electronic Music
Sound artist and saxophonist Jaka Arh will talk about his technique for performing experimental electronic music, where he recontextualizes Ableton Live into an interactive musical instrument.

Jim Black: Interactive Rhythm Class
The drummer Jim Black will lead an interactive rhythm class and present practical rhythmic exercises suitable for all instruments.
Saturday, 17th August at 14.00 (Music School)
Lucy Woodward & Henry Hey: Life as a musician
The two extremely versatile and active musicians will be sharing their experiences of running their worlds on and off the stage, talking about the non-musical part of being a musician, and the importance of collaborations and networking. The lecture will be held in the form of Q & A.
